Thrifty Thursday

This before & after instantly caught my eye, the outcome of this project is much like the DIY that I posted a few weeks back.  One can of paint is all it takes to make something boring & blah the topic of your next girls-night discussion.

Wednesday's Word

trajectory
(tra·jec·to·ry)

1. the curve described by a projectile, rocket, or the like in its flight.
2. a curve or surface that cuts all the curves or surfaces of given system at a constant angle.

This word was used by a coworker (thank you again, Mrs. Aschenbach) during a very intense game of angry birds.  (I recently invested in the iPad2 and just discovered why everybody can't put their phones down at the dinner table.)  It's more than addictive!

DIY Denim Vest

Here's my inspiration behind this post:
I'll be making my own next weekend, here's a few tips to help you along your way!
Start with any old jean jacket you have lying around,
Cut the arms off, soak in a bleach
bath and wash immediately.
Not feeling the lighter vest?  Try this tie-dye technique and peep the result below.
The studs are a little too rock-n-roll for my liking but you get the idea.
Can't wait to try, I have the perfect jacket for this project!

Satisfying Sunday

Last week I was not feeling up to par, so on Sunday when I awoke (and finally felt human again) I decided to make my lazy Sunday not so lazy.  I hadn't cooked anything all week so I threw two corned beefs in the oven for dinner.  (That's right, this girl can cook her butt off too) I knew I had about four hours to kill while that cooked so, off to ikea, Home Depot and Micheal's I went!
Here's what I found at ikea:
My new pillow (loving) and navy sweater throw look amazing in my orange infested office!
I can't ever leave ikea without stocking up on bamboo. (Come on, they were $1.50 each)
Still shocked by the abundance of great stank these tiny tea lights give off.
(36 for $2.99 is almost too good to be true)
I was finally able to replace my Elephant foot tree ($9.99),  my last one lived for three years!
I love these plants, the leaves (once longer) totally remind me of hair.
After deciding against it and actually putting this Roy Lichtensteinish picture back, I was persuaded (it really didn't take much) to make the purchase and I'm so glad I did. Thank you Swan!
I've had my eye on this since the catalog got delivered around New Years!  If this piece were any taller it wouldn't have cleared the top of my desk, so excited it wasn't because it's the perfect fit.  After transferring all my goodies into it, I now have an old set of drawers for all my crafts.
Hello organized :)

DIY Determined #6

Can you tell I was eager to do this?  The first one pictured I made just for my hubby!
I stocked up on paint swatches,
so holler if you want one!
I used stamps for the designs,
they turned out fan-fuckin-tastic.
Now, I just need to pick up a book
and show these puppies off!

They say you shouldn't mix silver & gold, these days it's all Sally does.  Here's another version of the DIY Studded Box I posted about two weeks ago.  Not sure yet what to store inside but, I just love it!
This one cost me under five bucks and took me five minutes!  The canister of nuts were on
sale at CVS for $2.99 and the thumbtacks set me back $1.30.  Score!
What you'll need:
Empty Peanut Canister
Gold Thumb Tacks
