50 Calorie Carrot Cupcakes
3/4 cup all-purpose flour
1 1/2 tsp baking powder
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1/4 tsp salt
4 tbsp all-natural unsweetened applesauce
1/4 cup clover honey
2 small eggs
1/4 cup warm water
1 cup freshly, finely grated carrots (carrots can be substituted with grated apple to make apple cupcakes instead).
1 tbsp unsalted butter
4 tbsp fat-free cream cheese
3/4 cup confectioner’s sugar
1/4 tsp pure vanilla extract
Pre-heat your oven to 350° F and line cupcake pan with 24 mini paper baking cups.
Sift together all of the dry ingredients and set aside.
Mix together the applesauce and honey using a stand mixer on medium speed. Beat eggs, and add them to mixer on low speed.
Add half of the dry ingredients followed by half of the water to stand mixer on low speed. Add remaining dry ingredients and water and mix slowly. Add in grated carrots.
Using a small ice cream scoop, scoop all of the batter into each baking cup so that each baking cup is equally full.
Bake at 350° F for 20 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the cupcakes comes out clean.
Place butter, cream cheese, sugar and vanilla extract in stand mixer, and mix together for 3-5 minutes, until frosting is light and airy.
Dip each cupcake in the frosting to cover each cupcake with a thin layer of frosting.
Recipe courtesy of Georgetown Cupcake, yields 24 mini cupcakes.

Backsplash Browsing
Tuesday night mission = backsplash.
We hit up The Tile Shop in Rockville, it was overwhelming to say the least. Since our counters are now butcher block and the cabinets are soon to be white, our options are seriously endless. I took pictures of every one we liked. We've narrowed it down, but it's exceptionally hard to decide which one we both truly love. I have my top three in mind, we'll see what happens!

Military Match
Earlier this month I caught sight of this ad and instantly fell in love with the bag the model was carrying. I immediately started scouring the internet for something similar and found this on a random army/navy site. I was more than pleased with my bargain (with discount code I paid $25!) and now that I see the pics side by side, they're identical! I'm gonna go ahead and pat myself on the back.

Purse Parody
I had to share this as Balenciaga is one of my most admired designers ever. The clothes and shoes are beyond insane, but my all-time favorite is the handbags.
Look at the detail this guy delivers, I can't take it!

Baño Blues
SO. I started painting the master bathroom, I chose the color Chambray by Valspar (the primer is already mixed in!) and I think it might be too blue. It looked pretty accurate on the paint swatch, but I was expecting it to be more white! I'm about halfway done and I definitely lost my mojo because I'm not in love with the color. It totally brightens the space and that's what I was trying to accomplish, but I'm just not sold. My hubbs says to finish it, he thinks it'll be fine when it's complete. I bet once all the light bulbs are actually replaced (and match each other), it'll look better too. Wish me luck, I'll post pics of the final product next weekend.
Address Announcements
I saw something very similar on Pinterest not too long ago and now that we've finally moved, I thought this would be the perfect way to share our new address/phone number with friends and fam. I got the paint swatches for free at Home Depot and found the envelopes and white jellyroll pen at Michaels, I didn't pay any more than $10 for this entire stunt and I love how the white ink looks against the black envelopes!
Here's another project I tackled using paint swatches!

Sanitizing Suds
Throughout our move this past weekend, I noticed numerous comments about how great the hand soaps smelled at all of our sinks. The last thing on my mind was getting soap and hand towels for all the bathrooms. Enter Mom, she's always thinking ahead and came fully stocked with foaming antibacterial hand soaps! It was so thoughtful of her to do that, thanks Ma!

Crafty Colleague
I had to share this project made by a fellow HZ'r, how freaking awesome did this turn out? She made this for a friends wedding and may I note that it was made from an old bed she found in the street! A little sanding, some paint and stain, and 4 NYC flea market coat hooks later, her creative masterpiece has inspired me to try something similar for our foyer.
