DIY Bath Rug

Oh boy I can't wait to do this. Probably another fantastic five dollar display of awesomeness!

Give your old towels a second life by transforming them into a super soft, eco-chic bath rug.
It’s an easy to do project that requires very little concentration. It may take you a while but it'll be worth it once you’re done!
1. Decide how big you want your bath rug to be by measuring the dimensions on the floor
2. Purchase gridded matting and cut it to those dimensions. (Can be bought at a craft shop or basic hardware store, as this usually sits under floor rugs to avoid slipping.)
3. Cut the towels into 5-6” long pieces, approx. 3/4” thick.
4. Knot each strip along the grid, ensuring they all face the same way.
Tip: For a thick, full mat, knot along every line. For a thinner mat, knot along every other line.

Wednesday's Word

egregious
(e·gre·gious)
1. extraordinary in some bad way; glaring; flagrant: an egregious mistake; an egregious liar.   2. distinguished or eminent.

I stumbled upon this word on the Georgetown Cupcake page while answering their daily trivia.  (They constantly give out free dozens, however I have yet to win one!)  Someone had just commented saying they had finally made their first "egregious" visit.

Major Men's Mishap

How tragic.  Do not I repeat, DO NOT attempt to try this at home.  Or in public.  Or even just for fun. W.T.F.

DIY Determined #4

Boy did I waste a lot of time in search of the most perfect box for last weeks DIY.  I searched high & low but nothing looked entirely interesting at all.  While setting up a blog post last week, I reached for something at my desk and realized this camo box (that I made eons ago) was the prefect fit for my project.  The upholstery nails cost me $1.89 and totally jazzed up my boring box, holla!

After Work Delight

This picture has been hanging on my inspiration board for 2 years now. My hubby will be late again (still counting those darn MSA's) so, when I get off work I'm heading straight to my favorite store, Home Depot. I can't get enough of this lime green workspace and I refuse to continue staring at it every time I sit down at my desk. Ladies and gentleman, I'm about to get my spray on.
Check this table. (and the dead plant, ouch.)  I bought it six years ago from HomeGoods on clearance, peep the tag below that I literally just cut off tonight. (great deal, right?) I actually didn't realize it was still attached until I was taking those dangling thingamajigs off.  Boy was that fun.  I spy a future DIY on that blah table!
It served it's purpose for six years,
now it's time for a makeover :)
Can you tell where I'm going with this?
I want to wait overnight for it to dry completely,
but here she is.

I say it's Magnifique!

March's Favorite Nail Hue

This color was introduced to me back in January and I instantly fell in love with it.  I decided to make Essie's Smokin' Hot March's favorite because I've literally been trying to acquire this color since the beginning of the new year and at last, I am successful.

I've chosen it twice at the nail salon since I learned the color was discontinued.  After four online orders (three of which were cancelled) it finally showed up in my mailbox last week.  When I told someone at work it came, she said, "I hope you got two"  I thought about it all night, got greedy and ordered another the next morning.  Go figure, two days later I received yet another email telling me my money would be refunded.  I guess one of five is as good as it'll get.  Either way, my nails look smokin ;)

iPad Insurance

So, I just got word from Apple that my iPad2 is on it's way straight from Shenzhen and should be here by Wednesday!  That being said it's time to choose a case.  Even though I bought the new smart cover (orange, of course)  I still need to protect this badboy on the go.  There are so many fresh options I don't know which to pick! Here are my favorites:

It's such a hard decision because I love them all.  Help!  What's your favorite?

Notorious Number

It's really hard to believe that it's been 14 years since Biggie Smalls was shot.  I can still recall the exact intersection I was sitting at when they announced his passing.  I was in my '93 Geo Prism chillin at the light at Falls Road & West Montgomery Ave when they announced his passing.  I remember like it was yesterday, we just couldn't believe it.  On a completely different note, damn we're getting old.

J U I C Y
It was all a dream
I used to read Word Up magazine
Salt'n'Pepa and Heavy D up in the limousine
Hangin' pictures on my wall
Every Saturday Rap Attack, Mr. Magic, Marley Marl
I let my tape rock 'til my tape popped
Smokin' weed and bamboo, sippin' on private stock
Way back, when I had the red and black lumberjack
With the hat to match
Remember Rappin' Duke, duh-ha, duh-ha
You never thought that hip hop would take it this far
Now I'm in the limelight 'cause I rhyme tight
Time to get paid, blow up like the World Trade
Born sinner, the opposite of a winner
Remember when I used to eat sardines for dinner
Peace to Ron G, Brucey B, Kid Capri
Funkmaster Flex, Lovebug Starsky
I'm blowin' up like you thought I would
Call the crib, same number same hood
It's all good

I made the change from a common thief
To up close and personal with Robin Leach
And I'm far from cheap, I smoke skunk with my peeps all day
Spread love, it's the Brooklyn way
The Moet and Alize keep me pissy
Girls used to diss me
Now they write letters 'cause they miss me
I never thought it could happen, this rappin' stuff
I was too used to packin' gats and stuff
Now honies play me close like butter played toast
From the Mississippi down to the east coast
Condos in Queens, indo for weeks
Sold out seats to hear Biggie Smalls speak
Livin' life without fear
Puttin' 5 karats in my baby girl's ears
Lunches, brunches, interviews by the pool
Considered a fool 'cause I dropped out of high school
Stereotypes of a black male misunderstood
And it's still all good

Super Nintendo, Sega Genesis
When I was dead broke, man I couldn't picture this
50 inch screen, money green leather sofa
Got two rides, a limousine with a chauffeur
Phone bill about two G's flat
No need to worry, my accountant handles that
And my whole crew is loungin'
Celebratin' every day, no more public housin'
Thinkin' back on my one-room shack
Now my mom pimps a Ac' with minks on her back
And she loves to show me off, of course
Smiles every time my face is up in The Source
We used to fuss when the landlord dissed us
No heat, wonder why Christmas missed us
Birthdays was the worst days
Now we sip champagne when we thirst-ay
Uh, damn right I like the life I live
'Cause I went from negative to positive
And it's all...

Happy Humpday

Hang in there, only 2 more days till iPad2!

Forgotten Favorite

I got a ton of compliments on my hair today and I just remembered why.  I thought it was the brush and my magic touch however, my whoring of hair products made me forget all about this literal cream of the crop.  A nickel size of Aveda's Damage Remedy Daily Hair Repair in your damp locks (never near the roots = greasy) and you'll have a guaranteed display of head turning hair.  Are you local?  Head over to Salon Central in Bethesda by Montgomery Mall to make your next Aveda purchase.  Best $24 I've ever spent on a product.
